Nature of Science
This course prepares students for a more conscious and conscientious participation in their academic and professional lives, through appreciation of science (alongside religion, and not in conflict with it) as a valuable and essential agent of progress in individual and social life. To this end, the course pursues two lines, both of them trying to nurture students’ capabilities to understand deeply, and practice influentially in, science: in the first line, students study critical paradigm shifts in history, sociology, and philosophy of science; in the second line, they practice critical thinking through reading and writing in the sciences.
